Guide for First-Time Kratom Buyers
A Quick Start Guide for Kratom
Kratom (also known as Mitragyna Speciosa or M. Speciosa) is not currently approved for human consumption by the United States FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Because of this, we can only sell kratom for research and horticultural purposes, aromatherapy and craft soap making. CLICK HERE TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE KRATOM SOAP.
We cannot sell or market kratom for human consumption. Kratom is an unapproved dietary ingredient that is sold for external use only. Because our products are not sold for human consumption, we cannot answer questions about how to consume them.
How Much Kratom Do YOU Need?
Although this can vary, it’s fairly common for small quantities of kratom (anywhere between 1 and 4 grams) to have a very energizing and stimulating “aroma”.
When increasing the quantity to around 5 grams or more, kratom begins to take on more of a relaxing and soothing “aroma”.
Kratom extracts are much more concentrated and powerful than regular kratom, therefore when using them it’s easier to add too much kratom to a mix. Because of this, we do not sell them and we do not recommend their use, especially if you are a first-time kratom buyer. Keep in mind that you can always add more kratom to a mixture later on if you’d prefer a larger quantity but it is impossible to remove excess kratom once you’ve added too much (for example to a soap mix or incense blend).
What Variety of Kratom Should I Choose?
As a first-time kratom buyer, the sheer number of strains and varieties of kratom can appear overwhelming, but things are actually very simple once you understand the basics.
Strains
The different strains of kratom each have their own, distinct properties and they are very simply named after the regions in which they are harvested from. Some of these regions include Sumatra, Borneo, Kalimantan (a specific region of Borneo), Thai, Vietnam and Malaysia.
Types / Vein Colors
You’ll also notice that each strain of kratom is described by a vein color and categorized under a Fast, Moderate or Slow “type”. In most cases (there are a few exceptions) the “type” of kratom is correlated to the vein color. The vein color simply refers to the color of the stem and veins that run throughout the individual kratom leaves.
Although these indicators aren’t always correct, in most cases:
- Red Vein Kratom is considered to be “slow” (an aroma that is more soothing and relaxing)
- White Vein Kratom is considered to be “fast” (an aroma that is more invigorating and stimulating)
- Green Vein Kratom is considered to be “moderate” (a mix of both fast and slow types with an aroma that can be soothing and relaxing in higher quantities but also invigorating and stimulating in smaller ones)
Our recommendation when starting out as a first-time kratom buyer is to simply pick a vein color based on your initial preferences and then you can experiment with a few different varieties of that color and see which of those strains produce the most enjoyable “aroma” for your personal tastes. Welcome to the wonderful world of kratom and enjoy!
